The Large Animal Internal Medicine (LAIM) Section at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine has an open position for a LAIM Resident to join the 2026-2029 program.  

The Large Animal Internal Medicine Residency at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University, located in beautiful Ithaca, New York, consists of advanced training in large animal internal medicine in the Equine and Nemo Farm Animal Hospitals. This position involves working with a diverse range of species, including horses, pigs, goats, cattle, sheep and camelids. The objectives of this 3-year program are to provide the resident with a high level of clinical experience in the field of large animal internal medicine in order to achieve certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM); to provide experience in the methods of professional veterinary medical education and supervised clinical teaching experience; to provide training toward a high level of veterinary medical service to the public and to the veterinary profession; and introduce the resident to hypothesis testing by participating in clinical research projects.  There are ample opportunities to participate in journal club, case rounds.

The resident will work in a friendly, supportive and motivating work environment, collaborating closely with other hospital services. Emergency on call is split evening between the residents and alternates between primary and secondary duty with the large animal surgery residents.  The candidate will join the current team of 3 LAIM residents and 6 LAIM faculty with extensive and diverse experience in LAIM and related disciplines such as cardiology and emergency and critical care, who will guide and support the resident in every aspect of their program.
