The University of Florida Veterinary Hospital at the World Equestrian Center is offering a 3-year residency in Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. The program is structured according to the guidelines defined by the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. The 3-year certificate program is primarily devoted to in-hospital service.
Clinical skills and judgment will be built through clinical experience, teaching of professional students, and participation in clinical and didactic rounds and seminars. Completion of a research project is required. It is the intent of the program to provide a broad foundation for a future career in academic sports medicine and rehabilitation or specialized practice.
Duties will consist of clinical assignments including clinical case responsibility, participation in the teaching of clinics to 3rd and 4th year veterinary students, a limited number of didactic lectures and participation in laboratory and continuing education courses. Responsibilities will include night and weekend duty in the hospital. Salary for this position is $59,000.00 annually.
An elaborate benefit package is provided to each resident. This employer-paid package includes a multitude of coverage’s including: medical, dental, vision, life, accidental death & dismemberment, disability, legal, cancer, long term disability, and accident (out of pocket) insurance. With most of the plans, there is also the option to include family members on the coverage at no extra cost to the Resident. If a resident suffers a work related injury, the resident is generally covered under the workers' compensation program of the University provided the resident complies with the requirements of the worker's compensation program. The resident will receive 15 annual leave days each year.
Residency dates: July 13, 2026 – July 14, 2029.

Qualifying applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree, and a demonstrated interest in equine sports medicine. A one-year internship or at least one year of general practice or equivalent experience with equine focus is requisite.
