The Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center is hiring a board-eligible ACVS/ECVS trainee for a 1-year emergency-only surgery position. Our collaborative team of veterinarians consists of three board-certified surgeons, one board-certified internal medicine clinician, five field service associates and seven interns.
The Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center is a state of the art full-service 24-hour emergency referral hospital located in scenic Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The hospital is equipped with 46 stalls including a four-stall USDA accredited Isolation barn. We have two surgery suites and two exam rooms with stocks for standing procedures. Our advanced diagnostic imaging arsenal includes a Qalibra CT, MRI, and nuclear scintigraphy, complemented with digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopic and gastroscopic units. We also have an on-site laboratory with the ability to perform routine bloodwork and in-house PCR testing.
We are seeking a driven, communicative individual with a team-oriented approach to cover 50% of the emergency call for the surgery service, performing necessary surgeries, procedures and client communication. The overnight intern and technicians handle treatments, billing, and incoming calls. Secondary interns and technicians come in to help with admission, triage and anesthesia.

Since opening its doors in 1986, the Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center has developed an enviable reputation as one of the premier equine veterinary hospitals in the country. Our reputation has given us the opportunity over the years to work on horses of various breeds and disciplines, from Kentucky Derby, Hambletonian winners and Olympic athletes to our local Hunterdon County equine friends.
Over the years, our staff has grown to over 40 dedicated individuals, including board certified specialists in the fields of surgery, internal medicine, sports medicine & rehabilitation, and cardiology. In addition to the hospital clinicians, we also have a field service department, whose veterinarians work closely with the specialists as a team, providing quality care at home. Our technical staff has also grown to 20 qualified individuals.
The team that has been put in place allows the hospital to provide exceptional care to the patient, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A doctor is always present at the hospital to oversee the care of patients.
