Southwest Equine is seeking a well-rounded Associate Veterinarian to joint our team-oriented equine-only practice in sunny Scottsdale Arizona.  Experienced veterinarian preferred, but a new graduate with exceptional communication skills and a desire to practice top-notch medicine will receive ample support and mentorship.  The ideal candidate has a strong interest in emergency medicine, internal medicine, general practice, sports medicine and/or dentistry.

We are seeking a veterinarian that is collaborative and shares our goal of providing excellence in veterinary care to all of our patients.  Our practice area is small (approximately 30min call radius) but densely populated with horses of all disciplines. Our clients are well-educated, compliant and as dedicated as we are to their horse's health and well-being.  Our practice is diverse but primarily includes Western Performance Horses, English Sport Horses and pleasure horses. We do not do any race-track medicine.  

Our new associate will be joining two experienced veterinarians: a Board-Certified Internal Medicine Specialist with an emphasis on poor-performance sports medicine, critical care and dentistry and a general practitioner who is passionate about reproduction and neonatal medicine (if you aren't interested in repro she has it covered, and if you are interested in repro she will gladly help you out!). We work closely with a Board-Certified Dental Specialist for our advanced dental cases and our practice is known for excellence in dentistry. We have fabulous relationships with other veterinarians and referral centers in the area and strongly believe in collaboration with veterinarians outside SWEV if needed to ensure our patients and clients receive exceptional care and service.

Our practice is currently ambulatory with haul-in facilities for minor procedures and overnight monitoring with a full-service hospital facility planned for construction in 2025-2026.  We currently offer a complete In-House Laboratory (CBC, Chemistry, PCR, Culture), Video Endoscopy (1.5m and 3.5m), multiple digital radiography units, multiple ultrasound units, regenerative medicine capabilities, shockwave, laser, acupuncture, fully-stocked vehicles (SUV) etc. The technical staff at SWEV is outstanding and our office team keeps us stocked and efficient.  

Southwest Equine Associate Veterinarians are given significant freedom to develop and focus on their passion in equine medicine and/or surgery. Our practice area has the volume of horses and clientele to support a wide variety of interests.  We offer a generous signing bonus and competitive salary, with paid emergency bonuses. We believe in work-life balance and offer a 4 day work-week for full time and shared on-call (33%). Our compensation package includes PTO, health, dental and liability insurance, continuing education stipend, state license fees, DEA license fees and AAEP membership dues. Disability, Maternal/Paternal Leave and retirement plan are available after 2 years of employment.

Southwest Equine is located in lovely Scottsdale, Arizona which has outstanding cultural and recreational opportunities. Scottsdale is an ideal location for people who love hiking, rock-climbing, mountain biking, water-skiing, exceptional culinary options, museums, etc... if you enjoy it Scottsdale has it within 1-2 hours (except the beach which is 5hours).  Yes, it is hot in the summer, but our clients have shade, fans, misters, coolers and plenty of water (or ice cream!) to keep us cool. The rest of the year is lovely with no shoveling snow or trying to sew up a laceration with frozen fingers.

DVM/VMD or Equivalent. Foreign Graduates that have completed ECFVG certification are encouraged to apply. Eligibility to obtain Arizona Veterinary Medical License.
