The Equine Clinic at Oakencroft is a 7 veterinarian practice that treats a wide variety of patients from our homecare geriatrics to pleasure horse to high level performance horses of various disciplines. Our goal is to provide our intern veterinarians with comprehensive practical experience to become a successful equine practitioner. We provide extensive hands-on experience in all facets of equine practice and a veterinary staff with a wide variety of interests and skills to help guide our future practitioners. Our internship program has been producing highly successful practitioners since 2005.
Our practice is primarily ambulatory with a small hospital facility. Our vehicles are fully equipped to handle all necessary patient care. During the initial training period, our interns work directly with staff veterinarians in an ambulatory and in-hospital setting to develop their practical and communication skills. As their skills develop, interns start taking primary case responsibility and emergency duty under the supervision of our veterinary staff. The interns are responsible for in-hospital patient care.
We are located in the capital region of upstate NY centered between the Adirondacks, the Catskills, the Berkshires and outdoor areas of Vermont. Great location for an outdoor enthusiast!
DVM or equivalent degree, CV, letter of intent, completion of NAVLE by end of academic year, 3 letters of recommendation, veterinary licensure in NY and MA states by start of internship, valid drivers license, externship experience at our practice is highly recommended. We will gladly accept applications from prospective interns that were unable to visit due to Covid-19 restrictions.
