Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals (BVEH) is seeking an ACVS-certified or ACVS-eligible Equine Surgeon to join our referral-level, multi-specialty practice in Navasota, Texas. This position represents a planned replacement within a mature, rapidly growing surgical and sports medicine service and offers a long-term professional home for a collaborative, growth-oriented surgeon.
This role is ideal for a surgeon with a strong interest in imaging-driven orthopedics and lameness, working across both elite sport horse and high-end rodeo performance populations. The caseload is predominantly in-hospital, with limited ambulatory responsibilities, and will be tailored to the surgeon’s skills, interests, and long-term professional goals.
Our hospital maintains a strong institutional commitment to advanced imaging, including standing and intra-operative CT and PET imaging, supported by a full surgical suite with foraminotomy capability, a climate-controlled ICU, and 24/7 in-hospital technician staffing. An on-site rehabilitation facility supports post-operative and performance cases, with close collaboration among surgery, sports medicine, podiatry, rehabilitation, internal medicine, and emergency and critical care services.
Call is structured to promote sustainability, with in-hospital backup coverage approximately 1:3 and primary coverage approximately 1:6, shared after-hours colic and surgical backup, and strong technical and professional support. The surgical caseload is primarily elective, with an emergency surgical caseload of approximately 30–40 colic surgeries per year.
This position includes participation in the training of veterinary interns, as well as involvement in the education of ACVECC and ACVSMR residents, with future opportunities to contribute to the development of a surgical residency program.
Compensation is competitive and structured as a hybrid model initially, with the intent to transition toward a salary-based structure over time. Equity and partnership opportunities are an intentional part of our culture and are discussed from day one.
Interested candidates should submit a CV and letter of intent to:
