Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Saratoga is located in the lovely and historic Saratoga Springs, New York. Our state of the art practice stands adjacent to the historic Saratoga Race Course - the site of the oldest major thoroughbred horse race in America, The Travers, and is surrounded by numerous thoroughbred breeding farms and sport horse barns. We have served as the official equine hospital for the Vermont Summer Festival, Lake Placid Horse Show, HITS Saugerties Series and many other local events.
Established in 2013, Rood & Riddle in Saratoga was Rood & Riddle’s first clinical venture outside of Kentucky. The Saratoga hospital includes two surgical suites, three anesthesia induction and recovery stalls, one standing procedures room, nuclear scintigraphy, a radiology suite, isolation ward, a laboratory and an ambulatory garage. Our staff includes an internal medicine specialist, two surgeons, a podiatrist, six ambulatory clinicians, and 20 veterinary technicians.
Philosophy of Internship: The goal of this internship is to provide 4 highly motivated individuals with training in lameness, internal medicine, emergency and elective surgery, diagnostic imaging, reproduction, and ambulatory medicine. We strive for a hands-on internship experience aimed at providing new veterinarians with the knowledge and experience necessary to enter a competitive job market. Mentoring is provided by 9 veterinarians including board certified equine surgeons, a board certified internal medicine specialist, a podiatrist and a collection of well experienced ambulatory veterinarians.
Internship Duties: The interns rotate in one-two week blocks through surgery, medicine, emergency/anesthesia and ambulatory medicine. Intern responsibilities include daily monitoring and evaluation of hospitalized patients, performing diagnostics and treatments, assisting in surgery, and assisting with anesthesia and emergency duties. Rood & Riddle interns are a very important and valued part of our team and are essential to the high standard of care and treatment we provide out patients.

Job Requirements: DVM or equivalent degree required from an accredited veterinary school. Successful completion of the NAVLE.
