Philosophy of Internship: Our goal is to produce a confident and well rounded equine veterinarian by providing our intern with a positive, comprehensive learning experience through exposure to a diverse caseload in beautiful western Colorado. With a focus on lameness, surgery, internal medicine and ambulatory practice, we provide high quality patient care through innovative medical and surgical procedures at our state of the art facility. Working with our fun, talented staff will help solidify your diagnostic skills, communication skills and enhance clinical competency. Currently, we have 2 board certified surgeons, 1 board certified internal medicine specialist. On site housing and ski pass are included.
Internship Duties: Initially, the intern will assist veterinarians with clinic and field appointments as well as after-hour emergency duties and hospitalized patient care. Interns are expected to assist in surgery, with the option of rotating assistant surgery and anesthesia duties. After the introductory period, interns will transition to primary care responsibility for scheduled as well as emergency appointments, with a senior veterinarian always available for back-up.
