Idaho Equine Hospital welcomes veterinary students (with priority given to 3rd and 4th-year students) for externships lasting 1–4 weeks, with most students choosing to stay 2 weeks. Externs gain exposure to a wide variety of cases and work closely with staff veterinarians both during the day and on after-hours emergencies. Case experience may include lameness and sports medicine, surgery, medical workups, reproduction, and dentistry. Externs also assist intern veterinarians and technicians with after-hours treatments and emergencies, providing valuable hands-on experience.
