Humphrey & Giacopuzzi Veterinary Group, Inc. (HGAE), under new management, has reopened following a brief 30-day closure. Our hospital has served Ventura County for over 35 years, and we remain dedicated to being a reliable, progressive, and supportive place for veterinarians to build their careers. HGAE is a predominantly equine veterinary hospital committed to advanced medicine, surgical excellence, and a high standard of care. Our caseload consists of approximately 90% equine and 10% farm animal patients. We serve a diverse equine population—from FEI competitors to cherished backyard horses—and support our local 4H and FFA communities. We are looking for both an equine surgeon and an ambulatory practitioner. If the applying candidates have farm animal experience or interest, that is a plus.
We are seeking two full-time or part-time veterinarians to join our revitalized team:
Open Positions
Equine Ambulatory Veterinarian – Providing high-quality ambulatory care to our loyal equine clientele, supported by a collaborative hospital and internal medicine team.
Equine Surgeon – Managing elective and emergency surgical cases with the full support of our hospital staff, equipment, and specialists.
Compensation
Starting salary: $95,000–$150,000 with collective production commissions and opportunities for advancement as our services expand.
Why HGAE?
For more than three decades, HGAE has been a trusted name in equine medicine throughout Ventura County and beyond. Our recent restructuring has strengthened our foundation, streamlined our operations, and reinforced our commitment to providing a healthy, supportive workplace for our veterinarians and staff.
Strong Community & rDVM Relationships
Referring veterinarians are the backbone of our hospital; we value and protect these relationships. We work closely with our rDVM community to ensure exceptional case communication, collaboration, and trust. Candidates who share this philosophy will thrive here.
What We Offer
A stable, forward-thinking practice with renewed leadership
A fully equipped hospital for emergencies, elective surgeries, reproduction, and advanced diagnostics
A collaborative environment with internal medicine support
Expanding opportunities in livestock and mixed-animal medicine
A beautiful Southern California location offering both ambulatory freedom and hospital-based work
If you are motivated, compassionate, and ready to join a team entering an exciting new chapter, we would love to meet you.
All candidates must meet the following:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution
California veterinary license (or ability to obtain one promptly)
Ability to participate in an on-call rotation shared among our veterinary staff
Commitment to excellent client communication and collaboration with referring veterinarians
Strong interest in equine and/or large animal medicine
Willingness to perform both ambulatory and in-hospital duties depending on position
Professionalism, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset

At HGAE, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of veterinary care for horses. With over 35 years of experience, we provide comprehensive primary and referral care, including around-the-clock emergency services.
Our fully equipped equine hospital provides support for emergency and elective surgeries, intensive care, lameness evaluations, reproductive services, neonatal care, neurology, ophthalmology, and ambulatory care.
Advancements in veterinary technology and procedures allow us to offer increasingly comfortable, effective care for our patients, and more horse owners are recognizing the difference. Our team is guided by animal-centered and client-centered principles, ensuring that each horse and their owner receives the respect, education, and compassionate attention they deserve. Trust is at the heart of what we do, and we are honored to partner with you in safeguarding your horse’s health.
Our mission is simple: provide exceptional medical care, empower and educate our clients, and uphold a culture of respect for patients and the healthcare team alike.
