Position Overview:

NENN Equine is seeking a dedicated, skilled and forward-thinking Associate Veterinarian with a primary focus on equine care and an interest in farm animal medicine.

The DVM will be responsible for providing service via ambulatory visits including wellness assessments, general care, lameness examinations, advanced diagnostics, treatment, herd health and rehabilitation. Key Responsibilities/Objectives:

• Conduct ambulatory visits to assess, diagnose and treat patients in various settings including barns, training facilities or private properties.
• Educate clients on a variety of topics including nutrition, wellness, general care as well as rehabilitation protocols to address diverse patient needs in a wholistic approach. 
• Collaborate with veterinarians, trainers, farriers, and owners to ensure an integrated approach to care.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency services

Key Competencies:

• Proven experience working with performance horses and lameness evaluations.
• Familiarity with the latest diagnostic tools and rehabilitation equipment in the equine industry.
• Excellent communication skills to educate clients and work collaboratively with our DVM team.
• Experience working with small ruminants, ruminants and camelids preferred.
• Willingness to travel for ambulatory visits.
• Positive, collaborative and solution-oriented perspective.

Education and Experience: 

• DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) or equivalent veterinary degree.
• Certified to work as a DVM in the United States.
• Equine internship or 5 years of equine experience. 
• Familiarity with the use of advanced imaging technology such as ultrasound, MRI, and digital radiography. 
• Valid Drivers License. 

Physical requirements 

• This position requires the physical ability to stand for multiple hours.
• At times you will need to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. 
• Walk up and down steps.
• Travel in a car. 
• Bend at the waist and perform a squat.
