The Modified Six-month Internship at Tryon Equine Mobile is designed for a new graduate with a solid equine background who is looking for extensive mentorship and hands-on skillset development during the first six months of employment. This flexible internship allows the doctor to progress at their own pace, which may include a longer or shorter internship duration with the support of a team willing to do what is needed to make the intern a successful member of our practice. Working side-by-side with our collaborative team, you will receive tailored guidance in preventative and emergency care medicine, sports medicine, lameness evaluation, and field surgery. Tryon Equine Mobile is a vibrant, collaborative, mentorship-focused team with a passion for horses, servicing a growing sport horse community in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. Our practice has five doctors, three veterinary assistants, and two administrative staff. We are a well-respected, multi-generational, ambulatory practice with a devoted client base that includes beloved family pets to world-class show horses. Sports medicine, lameness, field surgery, and preventative care cases are seen daily, and we also offer alternative medicine such as chiropractic and acupuncture. In addition to a haul-in facility in north Charlotte, we have two office locations strategically situated in the north and south to support our doctors with restocking and accessing and processing lab work. Our state-of-the-art equipment includes digital x-ray and ultrasound.
Externship Requirements: Open to fourth-year veterinary students with strong horse handling experience who are interested in applying for the modified six-month internship program. applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation.
Internship Requirements for Acceptance:
Completion in good standing of a DVM or VMD degree at an accredited university.
A passing score on the NAVLE.
Veterinary licenses and accreditation to practice in the states of North Carolina and South Carolina.
All required board tests must be completed by the beginning of the internship.
Tryon Equine Mobile is an ambulatory clinic serving a very active, diverse, and growing equestrian community in the greater Charlotte area. We are an integrative ambulatory clinic that offers a full range of on-farm diagnostics and treatments, including digital radiology, ultrasound, gastroscope, shockwave, laser, bloodwork, and dentistry, along with acupuncture and chiropractic services. Our team includes five doctors, three veterinary assistants, and two administrative staff. We have two office locations strategically situated in the north and south to support our doctors with restocking and accessing and processing lab work. Additionally, we have a haul-in facility in north Charlotte to accommodate scheduled outpatient appointments. Our veterinarians enjoy a 4-day work week and a rotating emergency on-call schedule. We are supported by Tryon Equine Hospital’s team of experts, including board-certified surgeons and an internal medicine specialist.
