Sweet River Equine Clinic, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time associate to join our exclusively equine practice in the Central Valley of California. We are looking for someone to join our team of two full-time doctors and one part-time doctor.
Our practice prides itself on providing excellent customer service and patient care, while maintaining work-life balance for our employees. We are a team-based clinic with doctors collaborating on cases and meeting for weekly rounds. We encourage learning for our veterinarians and support staff through continued education. We also promote client education by hosting annual client and farrier seminars, making us an integral part of the local horse community. An ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a desire to grow and develop the practice, and willingness to work with others.
Our caseload is approximately 50% haul-in and 50% ambulatory, with a one-hour radius. We primarily serve the working western horse community, but have a large number of sport horses and pleasure horses in our practice as well. Additionally, we have a strong reproduction program and the ability to stand stallions during the breeding season. We have a loyal and respectful client base who greatly value our expertise and commitment to patient care.
We have a fully equipped facility with a surgery room, in-house hematology and chemistry analyzers, ultrasound, digital radiography, endoscopy, and Pro-Stride. We perform elective surgeries and hospitalize intensive care patients and have a nearby referral hospital for more complex surgical cases. We provide a fully equipped vehicle and a designated technician. On-call will include one to two nights per week and one weekend per month.
We are located in the rural outskirts of Modesto. Nearby Oakdale is considered the Cowboy Capital of the World and there is a very strong and close-knit horse community in our county. In just two hours you can be hiking in Yosemite, shopping in the Bay Area, wine tasting in Napa, or skiing in the Sierras. If you are looking for a quiet small-town feel and lower cost of living, without being too far away from the bigger cities, this area is for you!
Mentorship is available and new grads are welcome to apply. Salary commensurate with experience. License fees, PLIT, CE, health insurance stipend, paid vacation, and sick leave are included in the employment package.
A current California veterinary license is required.
