Veterinarian, Large Animal, School of Veterinary Medicine
The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine at Rowan University is seeking a large animal practitioner to join our program in establishing a new equine and large animal ambulatory service based out of our Glassboro, NJ campus. As a new service, the candidate will be integral in developing the field service program from the ground up. The selected candidate will provide comprehensive routine and emergency care to backyard and production livestock patients in the field setting with the possibility for some in-hospital service as our facilities grow. Successful candidates will have demonstrated expertise in large animal practice through a minimum (2) years of relevant practice experience and/or completion of a related internship or residency program. Practice management skills such as a working knowledge of the operations of ambulatory service and ability to effectively manage support staff are preferred. Responsibility for providing after-hours emergency coverage will be shared across members of the service. While this position is considered to be predominantly livestock/food animal based, candidates will participate in after-hours emergency coverage for the service which also includes equine patients. Large animal species include primarily small ruminant, camelid, bovine and pet pig with opportunity for work with both pet and production animals.
The successful candidate(s) will advance the academic mission of the School through their contributions to clinical service and instruction of DVM students, veterinary technology students, and house officers on field service rotations. These positions are Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, or Clinical Associate Professor roles (rank commensurate with experience). While research and classroom instruction are not an integral component of clinical track roles, we welcome candidates interested in contributing to the research and teaching mission of the institution. Specifically, participation in clinical skills teaching of DVM students during their pre-clinical years is expected of clinicians on all services.
The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
