Burwash Equine Services is in an exciting stage of growth, and we are looking for the right person to join us. We are searching for a talented and personable individual that would allow us to add a new associate veterinarian to expand our team. Our ideal candidate would have a minimum of an internship and 1-5 years of clinical experience. If you can see yourself as part of our team, let’s talk.
This well established practice is independently owned and managed by two women who share a strong focus on establishing our practice as one of the most well respected in Canada, always doing what we feel is best for the patient. Our goal is to pass this trait on when training and mentoring our new associates, interns, and students. We are passionate about creating a practice that allows an equal focus on raising our kids, spending time with our families, and pursuing the hobbies that we are passionate about outside of veterinary medicine.
We feel there is an alarming industry trend of equine veterinarians leaving clinical practice, and we intend to be a part of the solution. We have seen how moving to a 4 day work week can increase both job satisfaction and productivity, and have moved to this schedule for our veterinary and tech team. After hours responsibilities are usually shared among senior veterinarians, providing backup for our interns who see most emergencies independently after their first two months. When not on call, you are not working; the on call veterinarian takes over case responsibility.
We feel that our pay structure has always contributed to our collaborative team approach that both clients and staff consistently comment on. We have a loyal client base that includes everyone from high level English and Western athletes to hardworking ranch horses to backyard pets. In August of 2018, we opened a brand new >12,000 sq ft hospital facility. The new hospital features a state of the art surgical suite and client viewing area, induction and recovery with walkways that allow rope recoveries that are truly as safe as possible for both patient and staff, innovative isolation stalls, three private exam rooms, and a separate lameness and reproduction center. We provide both in clinic and ambulatory services with practice vehicle provided.
Calgary is a major Canadian city of over 1.2 million people, and is located less than an hour from Banff National Park, making it a fantastic place to live if you are interested in outdoor pursuits such as hiking, camping, and skiing. It is a hotbed of equestrian sport in all disciplines from western pursuits like rodeo, extreme cowboy, reining, cow horse, and cutting to english pursuits like eventing, show jumping, and dressage.
If you want to be a part of a team that will support your goals and your family, and help you to practice the best medicine possible, this is the time to join us. Please send a letter of interest, CV, and contact info for 2-3 references to Dr. Crystal Lee at crystal.lee@burwashequine.ca.
