Equine Anaesthesia Technician
Sydney’s largest equine veterinary practice is currently accepting applications for an experienced Equine Anaesthesia Technician. REC Equine Specialists is a large 28 veterinarian practice based on the outskirts of Sydney. The hospital is situated within easy access of the Blue Mountains and beautiful Sydney beaches. Our team includes specialists in the fields of anaesthesia, surgery, internal medicine, emergency and critical care and sports medicine based at our new purpose-built equine hospital. The facility includes designated pre-anaesthetic, general, orthopaedic, soft tissue and standing surgical suites as well as a general anaesthesia CT suite.
The position involves co-ordinating, overseeing and day to day management of the anaesthesia department of the hospital. The position is well supported by a consultant specialist anaesthetist, associates experienced in anaesthesia and designated anaesthesia interns. The caseload (~ 700 general anaesthetic procedures p.a.) includes a wide variety of both elective and emergency cases, predominantly Thoroughbred racehorses and yearlings and increasing numbers of foal through to geriatric procedures.
Reporting to the Partner in charge of Anaesthesia, the successful applicant will need to be a team player with excellent communication/organisational skills and the flexibility to adapt schedules as needed. The practice is committed to training and mentoring veterinarians (interns and residents) to the highest level of anaesthesia care while ensuring a collaborative, positive and friendly workplace culture. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in equine anaesthesia is required and salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position includes 4 weeks annual leave and 1 weeks continuing professional development leave.
