Piedmont Equine Associates is proud to offer a comprehensive program for 2 new veterinarians to gain meaningful experience while working under the guidance of eight senior clinicians including two surgeons. Interns will assist with hospital, outpatient, and ambulatory services with direct and indirect supervision as experience, confidence, and abilities grow throughout the internship year. Interns will be responsible for in-patient cases and daily treatment updates for senior veterinarians. Piedmont Equine Associates is a full service equine exclusive practice. Interns can expect to see a wide variety of cases including extensive lameness and performance horse services, reproduction, foaling and neonatal care, internal medicine, surgery, anesthesia, primary/preventive care, dentistry, and emergency and critical care.
The goal for the internship program at our practice is to produce a competent, well-rounded equine veterinarian in 12 months. Learning is always the primary responsibility; therefore, the intern’s daily exposure to a variety of cases is essential to the experience. Piedmont Equine is a progressive practice that values new methodology and procedures. Our veterinarians value their time that is spent mentoring others in the advancement of their careers and place intern development as a priority.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and may be submitted at any time; we encourage, however, submission of application as soon as possible. The application deadline for a given internship year is October 1st of the preceding year (e.g., for June 1, 2025 start date, applications are due by October 1, 2024). Externships are not required for internships; preference, however, is given to those that have completed an externship. To apply to the internship program, please visit the link: https://careers.americanveterinarygroup.com/#Jobs to find the Intern Veterinarian ad for Piedmont Equine Associates.

Candidates must hold a DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA accredited college (or successful completion of the ECFVG or PAVE program) by the beginning of the internship. Candidates must obtain an active license in good standing to practice in the state of Georgia (or have the ability to obtain a license in the state of Georgia).
