Additional Information:
One year internship at 4 doctor, 2 intern equine referral practice, from June 1 2024-June 2, 2025.
Our goal is to provide the experience and knowledge necessary for a new graduate to excel as a well-rounded equine veterinarian in private practice. This is accomplished through mentoring and providing ample opportunities to become confident and proficient in the skills and communication abilities needed for success. Our caseload consists of approximately 50% in hospital and 50% ambulatory cases, of which the intern will play an integral part in the treatment plans and management for all patients. The intern will have exposure to all aspects of equine practice including a high volume of sports medicine/lameness, reproduction (including mare and stallion management), neonate care, internal medicine cases, surgery, chiropractic and wellness. The intern will gain proficiency with all manner of advanced diagnostics.
All of our clinicians have been interns themselves and have made the commitment to closely mentor our interns as a way of giving back to the profession.
Reata Equine Hospital is a 4 doctor, 2 intern referral practice located 20 minutes west of Fort Worth in Weatherford, Texas. Our area has a high concentration of horse population of a wide variety of disciplines in a semi-rural setting. We strive to provide excellence in equine veterinary care by educating and partnering with our clients in maintaining healthy horses while holding ourselves accountable to a Biblically based standard of ethics and integrity.
Early in the internship, the intern will initially be called to assist the primary clinician on call with emergencies. Once the intern exhibits proficiency to the intern supervisor, they will be placed into on-call rotations and share emergency duty with an associate as backup. The intern will also assist with anesthesia or surgery during after-hour emergency surgeries. During normal business hours the intern will be assigned to weekly blocks on a rotating basis with each of our individual clinicians to take advantage of our doctors' strengths and special interests.
To apply submit letter of intent, CV or resume, and 3 letters of reference to cori@rehvet.com.
