Central Georgia Equine Services, Inc. is a hospital-based practice with an active ambulatory service servicing the greater middle Georgia area. We offer premium healthcare in a rural setting. We offer student experience under the direct guidance of a veterinarian in a private practice setting that encourages students to actively engage and particate in patient care.  

Our externship program runs throughout the year with on-site housing provided. Externships begin on Mondays and are available for a minimum of five days up to a maximum of two weeks. 

Our externs are included in the daily routine of all of our veterinarians so that they gain exposure to all facets of the practice. Externs are expected to be available evenings and weekends during their stay to gain experience with the management of emergency and hospitalized patients. 

We accept one student at a time, you will be working side by side with your veterinarian. You will not be waiting your turn to see procedures.

During the day, you will help perform daily exams, administering medications and treatments and participate in all diagnostic procedures.  In the evening, you will be asked to assist the overnight doctor and technicians with patient care and after-hours emergencies.

Central Georgia Equine Services, Inc. is an equine-exclusive, non-corporate veterinary practice devoted to the care of horses. Located in Fort Valley, Georgia the practice serves the central Georgia community. Founded in 1988 the practice is now in its 35th year of providing excellence in equine veterinary care. A large variety of services are offered including preventative health care, dentistry and emergency care. Cases can be hospitalized at our 21 stall clinic facility for in-depth medical care. Our radiology and ultrasound units enable us to obtain diagnostic images in any location. We offer lameness evaluations and treatments including IRAP, PRP, stem cell and shock wave therapies. We offer advanced reproductive services including breeding with fresh cooled or frozen semen, embryo transfer and semen freezing. Our 1m, 1.6m and 3m endoscopy units allow us to access the upper respiratory tact, stomach, bladder and uterus.

Conventionally located adjacent to interstate 75 we are located 100 miles south of Atlanta. Our community maintains excellent stability thanks to the proximity of Robins Air Force Base, the largest air base on the eastern US. The practice is based on the care of the family horse and we enjoy a slower pace with less stress compared to traditional practice settings.

Externships are open to students actively enrolled in any AVMA accredited veterinary school in the US and overseas.

Central Georgia Equine Services, Inc. is a veterinary practice devoted to the care of horses. Located 100 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia we see a large variety of breeds used in many different disciplines including barrel racing, hunter-jumper, dressage, reining, Western and English pleasure and trail riding. The bulk of our patients are locally-owned horses that we treat like members of the family. We cover a large portion of the central Georgia area in our fully-stocked ambulatory trucks. Our hospital facility allows us to treat haul-in cases and hospitalized patients that need a higher level of care. Situated on 70 acres we do an extensive amount of reproductive work including foaling, breeding with cooled and frozen semen as well as advanced reproductive services including embryo transfer, semen freezing and hysteroscopy. We offer a large variety of services including preventive health care, dentistry, digital radiography and ultrasonography in addition to 24 hour emergency services. We are conveniently located 12 miles from the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter.
