Advanced Animal Care, LLC in Douglas, WY is seeking a full or part time associate. We are open to hiring an exclusive small animal or a mixed animal practitioner. Our clinic is 60% small animal including some exotics, 20% cow/calf beef, 10% small ruminants and 10% equine. Dr. M. Dean Smylie has been practicing in Douglas for over 30 years. He built a state of the art clinic in 2017 to better serve his clients.
We are a "paperless" clinic utilizing Cornerstone software. We offer in-house Idexx laboratory for blood and urine analysis; DR radiology, ultrasound, laser, EKG and endoscopy, We offer a specialized orthopedic room and equipment for advanced procedures such as: plating, cruciate repair, patella groove replacement, total hip replacements and more.
The clinic offers 4 exam rooms, a general soft tissue surgery suite, dental wet table, non-sterile procedure area, indoor and outdoor large animal facilities including hydraulic chutes (stationary and portable), equine hydraulic table and practice vehicle for country calls, in floor heating, indoor/outdoor heated kennels and grooming.
We offer a well trained positive and compassionate staff to assist our doctors in providing high quality care in both medicine and surgery. We are a high volume clinic with a variety of cases to offer a little of everything. We are looking for a candidate committed to practicing high standards of medicine and surgery and upholding the veterinary code of ethics. They shall have excellent communication skills and be client/patient oriented. Mentorship is available and encouraged.
We have a seasonal part-time small animal exclusive veterinarian with over 20 years of experience. She is at our clinic in April - October each year. She has worked for us as a relief veterinarian for the past 5 years. We also have a mixed animal veterinarian that joined our team upon his graduation in May 2022. Dr. Dean has mentored him for the past 5 years and we are excited to have him return. Our goal is to hire 1-2 additional veterinarians either full or part time. We feel this will provide a nice balance between work and home.
Some highlights of our beautiful state/town include: no state income tax, three large bodies of water for summer recreation within a 30-60 minute drive (Glendo State Park and Alvoca/Pathfinder Reservoirs. These parks offer many hiking and biking trails. The North Platte River flows through our town and offers excellent trout fishing as well as rafting and canoeing opportunities. Glendo Reservoir provides excellent walleye fishing, water skiing, jet skiing and has many camp sites. Laramie Peak provides excellent big game hunting or viewing opportunities. Douglas is home of the Wyoming State Fair every August. We are three hours from Denver, Colorado and three hours from the Black Hills of South Dakota - home of Mt Rushmore. We are a community of 6400 people that are committed to helping each other and the community. Douglas offers a fine K-12school system as well as Eastern Wyoming College (EWC) which offers degrees in nursing and gunsmithing.
