Neuse River Equine Hospital is accepting applications for a one year equine internship starting June 2023. We are a three doctor practice that sees a wide variety of horses ranging from back yard pets to upper level competitors. The practice has approximately 75% ambulatory and 25% in clinic appointments. The case load includes primary care, sports medicine, podiatry, reproduction, acupuncture and chiropractic. We work closely with specialists in the area along with the North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine . We are looking for a candidate who wants to develop a skill set that will set them up for the next step in their career! We value hard work while providing time to enjoy life away from practice. We are three hours from the beach or the mountains. The intern is on call 2 nights each week and two weekends a month. Benefits include PLIT insurance, CE allowance, practice vehicle, all license fees, AAEP membership and cost share for health insurance.
By the end of the internship you will be able to :
-take and interpret quality radiographs
-perform upper airway endoscopy and gastroscopy
-administer intra-articular medications
-perform routine dental procedures
-ultrasound and inseminate mares
-manage the primary care and emergencies of all kinds of horses
