Readlyn Veterinary Associates is a well-established, family owned, mixed animal practice servicing northeast Iowa for nearly 40 years.  We are currently a 2 doctor practice looking to add an enthusiastic and motivated associate to our team to meet the needs of our growing clientele.  Our services include equine, bovine (dairy and beef), occasional small ruminant, and companion animal medical care. We are truly a mixed animal practice and seek someone willing, and able, to jump in where needed on both the livestock and small animal sides of the practice when needed.  A desire to also work on equine patients would be a bonus but not required.  

Readlyn Veterinary Associates is located in beautiful northeast Iowa farm country in the agricultural town of Readlyn, Iowa.   Waverly, Iowa (population 11,000) is  just 10 miles away and Waterloo & Cedar Falls, Iowa (combined population 110,000) is 25 miles away, so you can enjoy both the quaint small-town life and still have access to all the amenities one might seek in a larger city.  

Having both graduated from vet school in 2005, our doctors haven’t forgotten the occasional trepidation that can arise in the first months of practice, and we are willing to offer mentoring to recent graduates or to seasoned vets looking to learn a new aspect of practice.  As a family-owned practice, we enjoy balancing a professional, but light, atmosphere with our staff and clients.  Our bovine clientele is made up of dairies ranging in size from 70-650 head, cow-calf herds from 20 to 100 head, calf raisers, and feeder operations from hobby size to 1,000+ head on feed. Our companion animal clients are dogs and cats only.  We do not offer services for any exotics or pocket pets.  We have a For-Most portable chute, Easi-scan ultrasounds, portable digital x-ray, power float, and Equinosis system (Objective Lameness Locator) for on-farm use for bovine and equine calls.  In-house we have digital x-ray, ultrasound, Abaxis analyzers (hematology, chemistry, and UA), Isoflurane anesthesia machine, dental machine (drill, scaler, polisher), new practice management system (Daysmart Vet) with digital medical records, and utilize GlobalVetLink for electronic CVIs, Coggins, and VFDs.

Job details:

Salary commensurate with experience, paid Iowa licensure, IVMA and AVMA association dues paid, liability insurance paid, health insurance, SEP IRA retirement plan with employer match, profit-sharing plan, paid vacation, cell phone provided (or reimbursement), truck and box provided (or mileage reimbursement if candidate has their own), all equipment provided, Staff Companion Animal Benefit package (discounted prices for personal pets), on-call duties shared equally (including holidays).

Additionally, Readlyn Veterinary Associates is located in a 9 county region deemed as a shortage area by the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program (VMLRP).  As such, a new hire may be eligible for the program and have the possibility of loan forgiveness for serving in the shortage area. 

Iowa licensure and Category II accreditation status required.
