O’Connell Equine is a solo ambulatory practice in the beautiful horse country of Ocala, Florida, located close to Orlando, Gainesville, Tampa, and accessible to beaches. We’re looking to build a field ER component that would provide high level emergency care to our patients. This practice has a young owner committed to mentorship, success, and care for coworkers. The schedule would be shift based to promote work life balance within the position, with the average workload consisting of 4 days per week.

O’Connell Equine has an excellent client base with a high percentage of high-level sport horses. This is a general practice with a significant sports medicine focus. The goal of the emergency team is to manage field emergencies and their follow-up care before the cases are handed back to their primary GP. With a shift schedule, doctors in this position will have the ability to practice top quality medicine for motivated and dedicated clients while having guaranteed shifts off to be able to reliably pursue interests and hobbies. We’re also willing to expand the diagnostics and services provided based on recommendations by members of the emergency team.
Your role at this practice would include but would not be limited to providing general veterinary services, especially field emergency services. It would include gastrointestinal evaluations, lacerations, respiratory evaluations, neurologic evaluation, performance and interpretation of digital radiography, ultrasonography, and bloodwork analysis.
