Veterinarian Duties- Develop diagnostic and treatment plans for all musculoskeletal related injuries that our patients face.- Help to handle the “general medicine” cases that are attended at our practice or refer to another veterinarian in the practice.- Provide excellent customer service to our clients by answering all their questions and concerns regarding their patients within 24 hours or less.- Do follow up calls with all patients- Collaborate with the administrative personnel in order to book the schedule efficiently so that production targets are met on time and achieve a healthy work-life balance.- Monitor your own production and submit purchase orders for commission payments on time.- Monitor mileage accurately so that purchase orders for milage payments can be expedited- Complete business management training in order to have a thorough understanding of the overall business model- Keep up to date on job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional regulations.- Participating in journal club on a weekly basis- Be a mentor to interns and students- Represent the company at events such as horse shows, horse races, and charity events.
Competencies Needed for the Job- Solid Knowledge in a lameness evaluation- Experienced and Efficient Musculoskeletal Diagnostician o Must have read at least 10,000 sets of radiographs o Must have performed at least 5,000 musculoskeletal ultrasounds- Efficient and Confident with joint injections o Must have done at least 5,000 joint injections- Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets- Organized- Excellent communication skills- Ability to handle long working days when needed- Ability to handle a high pace environment
Education- DVM, VMD or compatible degree validated in United Stated- Minimum 10 years experience in private practice or academia- Sports Medicine Boarded is a plus but not required- ISELP certification is a plus but not required. The company will pay for courses.
Physical Requirements- Prolonged periods of working with horses are expected- This position might require travel to horse shows or horse sales- Should be able to work 40 hours a week and occasionally more
