This externship and mentorship opportunity has been developed over the past 4+ years having hosted more than twenty-five Phase 1-4 students and new graduate DVMs from various veterinary institutions spanning across the nation (and beyond).  You get to experience not just one, but two privately owned veterinary practice settings. 

Our team of 7+ veterinarians use a combination of teamwork, collaboration, case discussion and practical hands on case management to provide our externs with a fun, immersive, modern medicine focused, clinical experience.  

Ingredients

1. A extern that is a positive, friendly, team-oriented, people person.
2. Would like to explore mixed animal practice life including large animal, small animal & exposure if desired to avian/exotic vet med too.
3. A desire to get involved and hands-on in case medical management while in hospital or in the field. 
4. Seeking first hand experience to expand and refine surgical skills and techniques in a wide range of procedures.
5. Interested in learning more about dentistry? One of our doctors is passionate about filling in the gaps here - pun intended! 
6. A willingness to be a part of a team that works to provide referral level medical, surgical services and hospitalization in a general practice setting. 
7. A clinic that embraces multi-modal anesthesia and analgesia protocols and advanced multi-parameter anesthetic monitoring techniques. 
8. A desire to provide animals with the latest and best health care and diagnostic options available.
9. An inquisitive nature, and desire to be a life-long learner.
10. Strong motivation to fine tune client education and relationship building techniques. 
11. Need to have new, standard of care technology and equipment to support your clinical services.
12. A willingness to share your new found knowledge and skills to serve the less fortunate animals of our community.
13. Stay with one of our doctor's where you'll have a comfortable bedroom of your own (usually a bathroom too) and all the food you could eat while being chauffeured to and from the clinic on a daily basis.  
14. Pickup and return to Houston airports (Hobby or Bush) for out of state students. 
15. Explore the area beaches and local weekend activities during your down time. 

Instructions

Combine all of the above listed ingredients into a newly renovated clinic environment (coming soon!) complete with staff lounge and snack bar. Optimal results achieved by allowing for an extended pairing of mentee with long standing hospital team.
