Idaho Equine, located in southwestern Idaho’s beautiful Treasure Valley, is seeking a full-time veterinarian to join our growing team.
We are seeking a motivated, driven individual who is committed to continually improving the standard and quality of equine veterinary practice. Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mentality are a must. The ideal candidate would have a strong focus on medicine and general practice, as well as being comfortable with basic lameness workup, urgent care, and emergency work. Daily work would consist of a mix of ambulatory work as well as in hospital appointments and can range from a significant amount of primary preventative care to urgent care/same day emergency cases. A four-day work week is provided for veterinarians with some emergency call to be expected also. Our practice is a family-oriented practice with sufficient veterinary and support staff to enable a genuine work/life balance.
Idaho Equine is a full-service referral hospital serving all of Idaho and the Northwest (eastern Oregon, northern Nevada, and western Montana). The practice consists of 11 veterinarians. We combine cutting-edge diagnostic capabilities with experienced, honest, compassionate veterinarians to provide exemplary care for our patients and clients. We are the only equine hospital in the state of Idaho with board certified veterinary specialists in surgery, internal medicine, and emergency/critical care. We strive to provide our clients with a team of veterinarians that can work together to provide any level of care necessary. Each year our practice hires 3 veterinary interns that rotate between medicine, surgery, and reproductive rotations. Our caseload is primarily western performance horse based, but still contains a significant amount of dressage, hunter/jumper, 3-day eventing, and endurance horses, as well as the backyard horse.
Idaho Equine Hospital is a 78-stall facility located in Nampa, Idaho and is set on approximately 3 acres with a 10,000 square foot main hospital building. The main hospital contains one surgical suite, two induction/recovery stalls, separate treatment/examination areas for each of the surgery, medicine, reproduction, and health management cases. It also includes a nuclear scintigraphy suite, pharmacy, laboratory, and radiology room as well as radiology viewing room. Patient housing facilities include two buildings with a total of twenty-two indoor stalls (including four respiratory isolation/infectious disease stalls and four GI isolation/infectious disease stalls), and covered outdoor stalls. A cover-all houses an arena used for lameness exams as well as nine additional stalls with a separate reproduction area (mounting phantom, mare, and foal stocks) and reproduction lab. Fully equipped ambulatory vehicles are available for ambulatory calls.
Diagnostic modalities include three digital radiography units (Canon) complete with wireless plates, a 500 MA overhead generator, two portable X-ray generators, and a GE nuclear scintigraphy unit. A mobile MRI unit (MREquine) with a 1.5 Tesla magnet is also on site. Ultrasound capabilities include 2 units for abdominal and thoracic ultrasound, 2 units for reproductive use, and 2 units for musculoskeletal use. Scoping capabilities include two 1-meter and two 3-meter scopes, Stortz arthroscopy, and Dyonics laparoscopy. Power Float dental equipment is available as well as a full diagnostic in-house clinical pathology laboratory equipment including Idexx Procyte and Catalyst analyzers.
We offer a competitive salary and complete benefit package (401k, professional dues, CE compensation). The Treasure Valley has become a very desirable place to live with easy access to outdoor recreation of all kinds and is a great place to raise a family.
