Kopec Veterinary Associates is looking to add another champion to our team. We are a busy 3-4 doctor equine ambulatory practice with a beautiful, recently renovated and state of the art, haul-in clinic located in South Central Pennsylvania. We are growing daily, busier than ever, and we would like to continue that trend. The clinic provides office space, pasture space, treatment/foaling/ICU stalls, exam area, pharmacy, and laboratory (CBC, serum chemistry, fibrinogen, SAA, cytology). We are a dedicated healthcare team of professionals who value exceptional care, great service, continuing education, work ethic and positive attitude. We are seeking an enthusiastic intern that aligns with those values, does well in a team setting, and is a good communicator. Many opportunities for the right individual.
Our goals for the year are to provide invaluable experience needed for a successful career as an equine general practitioner and to hopefully gain a new long term team member in the process. We understand the importance of exposure, experience, and mentorship during your first years of practice.
Requirements for consideration include:
Our services include: progressive preventive health care (modern strategic deworming, vaccination), lameness/sports medicine (shockwave therapy, digital ultrasound, wireless digital radiography, thermography, Lameness LocatorTM), pre-purchase examinations, reproduction services (embryo transfer, AI – fresh and frozen semen breeding, reproductive ultrasound), dentistry (PowerfloatTM), geriatric medicine, foal care, myelography, field surgeries (based on doctor discretion by case and standards of care – including castration, wound repair, enucleation, hernia repair, dental extraction), chiropractic, and URT endoscopy (1m). Our patients are equine companions, sport horse’s and everything in between. We have digital record keeping system and use AvimarkTM vet software.
On call/emergency and foaling duty is shared between all veterinarians with the goal of a healthy, sustainable, work-life balance. A doctor is typically on duty every 3rd night and 3rd weekend. Holiday on call duties are split as well. On call veterinarian receives their emergency fees quarterly.
We have an excellent reputation in our community and great rapport with our local veterinary colleagues (large and small). We are in range of multiple equine referral centers and routinely consult with board certified specialists. We strive to maintain a good working relationship with these specialists as we consider them part of our team.
In addition to salary, benefits include: health insurance, PTO/sick days, professional liability insurance, professional membership dues, vet truck with mobile unit, field computer, and all equipment and drugs are provided.
