Every year, we admit two motivated and talented veterinarians into a one-year internship program at our Menlo Park Clinic. The program, licensed though the California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) and approved by the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), allows new doctors to gain valuable experience and mentorship in a collaborative team atmosphere. We are a progressive referral practice with a mix of performances and companion horses.
The goal of our internship program is to produce well-rounded equine veterinarians. Previous interns have gone on to get competitive job offers as well as residencies in Sports Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Radiology/Imaging.? Consider joining our team!
Applicant must be graduating from an AVMA-accredited school and be able to obtain a California state veterinary license. Previous equine experience is not required but is strongly recommended.
We understand that it has been challenging for students to visit clinics since March 2020. We look forward to meeting potential applicants via video chat, with a follow-up visit if needed. If you are able to travel, please consider our Veterinary Student Externship program in order to spend time working with each of our associate veterinarians. Each of the veterinarians in the practice, including our current interns, participate in intern selection.
Our internship program offers competitive pay and provides housing, benefits, and membership fees including AVMA and AAEP memberships. Personal development and vacation time are also offered. We continue to fine-tune our internship program to fit the needs of new graduates. Day trips and weekend excursions are encouraged on days off. Competitive CE allowance.
Interns assist with in-house and ambulatory cases, emergencies, surgery, and anesthesia. They help manage the medical care of critical patients, facilitate day-to-day operations of the clinic, and help our staff with daily appointments. For the first six months, interns work exclusively with senior clinicians. As they feel more comfortable, interns start managing select cases on their own. Living onsite means intern doctors are an integral and highly valued part of our team.
Graduate from AVMA accredited school including passing the NAVLE
Be able to be licensed in CA within 6 months of starting the internship
