Do you crave a collaborative workplace that provides ample room for career development? If so, joining the veterinary team at the Houston SPCA could be your best career move yet. Our hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment for triaging injured animals who are rescued from the eight counties that make up the Greater Houston area. We have digital radiography, ultrasound, and in-house laboratory equipment.
Our new, 12-acre Campus For All Animals opened in Fall 2018 and includes an Adoption Center, Wildlife Center, one of the largest wildlife hospital and rehabilitation centers in the nation, a 14,000 square foot Education Center, and a 25-stall Equine Care Center and Rescue Arena. Our brand new Animal Medical Center will open to the public in Summer 2022, and will allow us to grow our program even more.
This is a great opportunity to work with mission-driven staff who provide excellent care to animals in need. We treat companion pets, native wildlife, horses and farm animals, and the occasional exotic. Houston SPCA Veterinarians also participate as clinicians for fourth year students at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences during their Animal Welfare and Shelter Medicine rotation. Finally, our veterinarians play a vital role in our ongoing mission to eliminate animal cruelty. They ensure rescued animals are cared for medically and rehabilitated, and provide expert witness testimony to bring justice for the innocent victims of animal cruelty, abuse and neglect.
Our compensation and benefits package is extremely competitive with a base salary range from $125k depending on experience, exceeding the top 75% percentile* in Houston. We offer Continuing Professional Education, 403(b) retirement plan, professional dues and license fees paid, and an outstanding work environment supported by a leadership team that genuinely cares about its people. Additionally, the Houston SPCA is a 501(c)(3) and an eligible organization for the federal student loan forgiveness.
