Woodside Equine Clinic offers two internships at our equine practice located in Ashland Virginia. Internship duration is June-June. We are looking for dedicated individuals who have the desire to advance in all aspects of equine medicine and the enthusiasm to perform intern duties with a positive attitude.
The Internship program at Woodside Equine Clinic offers an environment which allows for hands on experience while growing at the rate that suits you best. Our interns play an integral role at Woodside Equine Clinic and the clinicians largely depend on the assistance of our interns to receive and assess in-house emergencies and manage intensive in-house cases. The volume and diversity of cases seen at the clinic will provide you an opportunity for substantial advancement of skill set and knowledge base. You will gain experience becoming competent and proficient with a multitude of different emergency, surgery, sports medicine, imaging, and internal medicine skills. You will be exposed to our ambulatory practice and hospital surgical or internal medicine cases on a rotating basis.
Primary duties will include routine clinical and intensive care, patient management, anesthesia, and surgical assistance. Interns are also responsible for assisting the primary clinicians with emergency, imaging, sports medicine, and lameness cases. The interns will gain invaluable hands-on experience while acquiring decision making and client communication skills. The first several months direct supervision will be provided. As the year progresses, the amount of direct supervision will decrease based on primary clinician comfort and intern experience. As skills progress our interns will handle primary ambulatory on-call responsibility and will receive 100% of any ambulatory emergency fees they generate.
