Equine Internship – Colorado Equine Clinic
We are pleased to offer an Equine Internship through Colorado Equine Clinic. The goal of the equine internship is to mentor future veterinarians in client rapport, staff relations, patient handling, and practicing sound medicine. Our intern will have the benefit of being mentored by our established doctors who continuously work to improve the way we practice medicine and ensure our patients are receiving the best care possible. Our intern will master the use of regenerative medication, have a chance to be involved in podiatry research, and become comfortable addressing equine emergency and nonemergency cases in a nurturing environment. Our intern will be exposed to routine wellness, floats, lameness exams, mild emergency cases, and more. Our ideal candidate will enthusiastic, driven, and carry a comfortable curiosity about the best way to practice medicine. We are offering our interns a salary of $30,000 with benefits of typical internship programs. We are also offering a ski pass to encourage our interns to enjoy a balance of life and work. We expect our intern to enjoy a 12 month program with us.
We are located in Littleton, CO on a large piece of property at the base of the foothills and enjoy a 360 degree view of the Rocky Mountains. We are about 45 minutes south of Denver and less than an hour and a half from top-tier ski resorts. Our intern will participate in rounds, sit-down case presentations/literature reviews, and be part of ongoing podiatry research done through the practice. We do general small animal medicine, if you have interest in Mixed Animal medicine, we can accommodate that in the program. Equine Emergency calls will start when the intern and clinicians feel the intern is competent, usually 3-5 months after their starting date. All of our staff work a 4 day work week. Emergency time will be every other weekend and two week nights/week.
The internship salary is $30,000 with benefits typical of internship programs. Housing is not provided. In order to apply for the internship, a one week externship is required prior to application.
