Abraham’s Equine Clinic sits on 29 acres in southeastern Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In our premier full-service hospital, we are well equipped to see a diverse caseload of preventative care, surgical cases, lameness, and emergency cases. Our highly trained and compassionate staff provide exceptional care in a fun and collaborative environment. We treat a wide variety of patients from high level performance horses to backyard pets, across a range of disciplines.

Veterinarians in Practice: Charles G. Abraham DVM, Jeremy Servantez DVM, Scott McClure DVM, DACVS (mobile surgeon).
Practice Facilities: 6 barns with 68 stalls, including intensive care unit and isolation barn. Additional 12 paddocks and 6 rolling pastures for turnout. Embryo transfer program and house approximately 15 stallions. The hospital houses a laboratory, Radiology Suite, Endoscopy, Ultrasound, Surgery Suite, Reproductive Center, 24-hour Ambulatory Services, Dentistry, Foaling Service, Mesotherapy, Shockwave Therapy, PRP and IRAP. Surgical referral relationship provides on-site services for more advanced surgery cases.
Case Load: Approximately 1000 in-hospital and 2000 ambulatory cases per year.
Types of Cases: 25% medical, 15% surgical, 30% lameness, 30% reproduction.
Estimated Daily or Weekly Workload: Varies with time of year and emergency case load. Normal business hours are 8am-5pm Monday through Friday. Emergency services are provided 24 hours a day.
Philosophy of Internship: To provide a new veterinarian the opportunity to practice quality equine medicine and surgery in a learning environment that is conducive to increasing their knowledge and skills in veterinary medicine, along with exposure to the day-to-day factors of managing a private practice, thus providing them with the tools to become a successful equine veterinarian.
Prerequisites for Internship: DVM degree, completion of National Boards Exam (NAVLE), an Iowa DVM license or eligibility for licensure in the state of Iowa, at least three professional and personal references and a personal interview.
List of Internship Duties in Practice: Duties will involve performing or assisting in:
Emergency Duty Requirements: Rotating schedule with other intern veterinarians, always with direct or indirect supervision of a staff veterinarian.
Amount of Supervision: Supervision depends on the intern’s progress in development of knowledge and skills.
Employee Benefits: 7 days leave, 3 days leave for CE, Professional Liability Insurance and AAEP dues.
Internship Duration: One year. Internship Salary: $2500 per month plus $1000 per month in housing stipend, in addition to above benefits.
