New one-year rotating internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky. Open to recent graduates and experienced veterinarians who may be interested in more focused training within these specialties. Interns will rotate within three of our busy specialty services including equine sports medicine, ophthalmology, and internal medicine under the supervision of FEI official veterinarian(s), board-certified ophthalmologist, and six equine internists respectively.
Responsibilities include:
Ophthalmology Rotation:
The intern will be responsible for providing and assisting with case management of inpatients, outpatients, and farm calls under the guidance and supervision of a board-certified ophthalmologist.
Sport Horse Rotation:
The intern will be responsible for assisting with appointments and case management in the field and at office visits for equine athletes competing in hunters, jumpers, dressage, combined-training, western performance, and racing.
Internal Medicine Rotation:
Additional Expectations:
Regular attendance at practice rounds and journal discussions.
Completion of a publishable case report and/or participation in a prospective or retrospective study.
