The Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, invites applications from qualified individuals for a full-time, calendar year non-tenure track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position in Equine Field Service. Applicants must possess a DVM or equivalent degree. At least 3 years of practice experience with equids is required. Diplomate status or eligibility for certification examination by an AVMA specialty college is preferred. Clinical teaching experience, demonstrated commitment to service and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are desirable attributes for this position. The position consists of didactic, laboratory and clinical instruction in equine medicine and surgery, including preventive health programs. Clinical service (70%) will be to participate in the Equine Field Service unit of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, providing equine services to and consultation with clients in the local practice area. Additional responsibility will include participation in the emergency service with other clinicians in the group. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in continuing education and outreach programs of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Didactic instruction (20%) will include participation in professional instruction on topics related to equine conditions and preventive health. Scholarly activity and participation in collaborative research will be expected (10%). Rank will be as a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor with a calendar year appointment.
