Tacoma Equine Hospital is an established equine only, progressive, well-equipped clinic that offers both in-clinic and ambulatory services. A staple in the community for over 45 years, our four doctor practice is known for excellence and dependability. Our slogan reads “Quality care. Compassionate People. Exceptional Service” and this is what we strive for every day. Our clientele is loyal and appreciates the extra effort we take to provide outstanding client service and advanced medical services and therapeutics
Our caseload offers variety. We see everything from competitive show horses to backyard pets, mini horses to draft size and offer preventative care, breeding, elective surgeries, performance evaluations, 24/7 emergency service and more.
Who are we looking for?
Our team seeks to add a talented equine veterinarian to support our growing caseload and clientele in the region. Our ideal candidate will have completed an equine internship and enjoys a varied caseload. We are looking for someone eager to work in a supportive, collaborative environment and who has a willingness to connect and build relationships with their clients. Ideally they would be willing to develop their interests and therefore grow the practice. We will entertain full time, part time and flexible schedule desires.
What do you get?
Our clinic consists of a treatment area with stocks, a round pen and jogging area, two stalls, two paddocks, and a surgical suite with a padded recovery stall. The facility serves well for outpatient appointments, as well as elective surgeries and overnight attendance of critical cases.
Our clinic provides each doctor with their own fully stocked truck, laptop and cell phone. Each doctor also travels with a veterinary assistant for all routine appointments, allowing the doctors to spend quality time communicating with their clients and increasing the efficiency of these appointments. In addition, we have a wonderful group of office support staff, consisting of two receptionists and a practice manager, who help keep the days moving smoothly.
Tacoma Equine Hospital is a very close knit team, dedicated to supporting each other and encouraging everyone to grow into their own avenues of interests. We have weekly doctors meetings for case sharing, and regular staff meetings to ensure needs are addressed in a timely manner. Emergency coverage is shared equally among associates resulting in no more than one night per week and every 4-5th weekend on call. There is an extra day off the week following your weekend emergency duty. With this schedule, work life balance is an attainable goal
Equipment: 3 DR X-ray machines, 2 ultrasounds with macro, micro, repro and linear probes, 3.5 meter gastroscope, 1 meter endoscope, Powerfloat dental equipment, mini-horse specific dental equipment, therapeutic Class 4 cold laser, regenerative therapies (IRAP, ProStride and PRP processing), microchip capabilities, Lactate and Serum Amyloid A stall side reader.
Compensation consists of base salary plus commission percentage if production goals are achieved. Veterinarians are also compensated the emergency fee if collected at the time of service. Fringe benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, liability insurance, state license, professional dues, vacation, CE and more. Relocation reimbursement and Student Loan Assistance may be considered. There is an opportunity for buy-in for the right individual.
