None of this 10 days PTO a year tradition...
We are scouring the world for an amazing equine veterinarian who has excellent clinical skills, plenty of self-motivation, and a jolly personality. We have a great (well-trained) clientele and are looking for a self-starter to join our small but mighty/rapidly growing team to build on that established base.
In return for your skills, we will treat you well: We have structured a package that focuses on both pay and lifestyle; Ikon Ski Pass or Hot Springs membership are but some of the perks on offer!
We love our profession and want to live forever, so believe everyone needs a decent vacation and time to do self-care. This is why we actively encourage a full 2-week vacation, and plenty more besides.
Like the sound of that?! Read on…
We have an office staff, a haul-in facility with stocks & espresso machine. Our kit includes wireless DR, ultrasound, endoscope, ECSW, Class IV laser, all the dental tools, IRAP/PRP/other regeneratives etc. All well maintained and up-to date.
We work 8:30 - 5pm M-F; no scheduled appointments on weekends. On-call is shared with the boss 50:50, but is not onerous and we typically see 2-6 out of hours cases a month (seasonal swings). ER bonuses are 100% of the ER Fee, paid monthly, and a day off in lieu of weekend on-call that helps with the work-life balance.
The majority of our case load is dentistry, lameness, wounds and first opinion medicine.
If you like equine reproduction, however, I’m afraid your SOL, this is not the job for you.
We work closely with an equine sports medicine/performance practice based in Loveland, CO which visits Steamboat monthly to serve clients and is available for in person consultations and mentorship. We have wonderful relationships with 3 regional referral hospitals, and they are very supportive in serving our clients and in our growth.
Note From The Boss:
I think I’m a great boss, maybe that makes me arrogant, so I’m willing to be told differently with weekly associate meetings over a cuppa. I offer all the mentorship you want, both on cases and in business. I welcome feedback positively and strive to keep our practice culture happy and healthy.
If you’d like to check out previous employees’ thoughts on working with me (relief vets, previous tech), I’d be happy to put you in touch. I believe in evidenced-based medicine, ethical practices and continuing self-development; if you share these values, you’ll fit right in!
Our Location: “The Mountains Are Calling and I Must Go!”
Steamboat Springs, Colorado: This is a brilliant place to call home, not just a ski resort. It has a great year-round family community with excellent schools and sports facilities. It is rural, but affluent, and blessed with a strong, growing equine community. In addition to world class winter sports, the outdoor enthusiast will find excellent hiking, camping, hunting and fishing the rest of the year.
