Philosophy of Internship: The internship rotates through surgery/lameness, ambulatory/reproduction, anesthesia/ICU, and internal medicine/emergency medicine. The internship is divided between training with specialists in-hospital and primary case responsibility in the field.
Internship Duties: Interns are responsible for the hospitalized patients as well as assisting with receiving of cases under the different services and clinicians. Interns have rotating emergency duties and assist the nighttime emergency doctor if needed. Case rounds occur each morning between 8:00 and 8:45am. There are educational rounds for the interns every Wednesday morning and journal article presentation every other Friday for all doctors in the practice.
Prerequisite Application Process: Graduation from an accredited veterinary school and licensed in the state of California. All applicants should complete an externship at one of our hospital locations prior to application.
