Petaluma Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery is seeking applicants for a one year, equine hospital and ambulatory internship. Based in Sonoma County, about an hour North of San Francisco, Petaluma Equine is a hospital-based group practice consisting of nine veterinarians including a board-certified radiologist and surgeon. The primary case load of the practice is sports medicine, general practice, surgery, and racetrack medicine. We see a variety of horses and work with all disciplines and breeds. In addition to a fully equipped operating room, the facility has digital radiography, ultrasound, digital endoscopy, standing MRI and a complete rehabilitation facility.
The ideal candidate is someone looking to further their training in a diverse and well-rounded clinical setting. Weekly journal club and quarterly seminar presentations are structured into the internship to encourage ongoing education. The internship position is designed to offer a mixture of managing hospitalized cases with our surgeon, time in the field with the ambulatory veterinarians in the practice, and primary emergency care.
Applicants seeking a well-rounded internship which will prepare them for residency application or private practice are encouraged to apply. The position is well suited for new graduates or as a second internship.
Housing is provided in a two bedroom, one bath apartment located on the second floor of the hospital with a private entrance. Petaluma is located in the heart of wine country, surrounded by rolling hills and just inland from the Pacific Ocean.
