Estimated Workload: 50-80 hours per week depending on the week. The interns will be off call one 3 day weekend each month.

Philosophy of Internship: The goal of our program is to allow our interns to build a strong foundation in equine medicine and surgery in order to develop a confident equine practitioner. Individuals wishing to pursue an equine surgical residency will be well prepared to do so. Likewise, those interns wishing to go into private practice will be equipped with the skills and knowledge base to function as high level general practitioners.
Internship Duties: Daily examination and care of hospitalized patients.Assisting in surgical procedures, ambulatory procedures, evaluation and treatment of outpatient and emergency admissions. Alternating rotation through hospital emergency, outpatient management, anesthesia, and ambulatory on a weekly basis. Participation in weekly journal clubs, intern rounds, and completion of a research project, with the goal of publication.
Prerequisite Application Process: An externship at our facility is preferred but not mandatory. Please submit a CV, letter of intent and 3 letters of recommendation.
Additional Information: For traditional July 1 start dates, applicants must submit their documentation by May 1st. However we do encourage year round applications for those students who may be coming from non-traditional programs or are requesting non-traditional start dates.
