Our practice has been a 2.5 doctor practice for years and looking to expand to a full 3 doctor practice with the oldest vet just managing in the future. Recognizing that we're not quite busy enough for 3 vets yet, we'd like to bring in a new graduate to be able to spend lots of time mentoring the first year. One vet has been out 25 years and the other vets for 10 years each, and we all have slightly different backgrounds to be able to share. The first couple of months will be spent riding with the other vets before being asked to go on appointments on your own. For the first year while learning, you will be on call every other weekend with other vets until you are comfortable going on your own. Once you are comfortable, then you'll start the every 3rd weekend being on call. While we don't have set rounds right now, we do discuss the more difficult cases as they come up. We have a 3000 sq ft clinic on 10 acres that is more an outpatient type clinic than hospital. While we may run iv fluids overnight, we send the more intense cases to NC State since we don't have 24 hr coverage. Typical toys and benefits package. New 2021 Toyota Tacoma with Portavet will be the vehicle you will eventually drive. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions.
New equine vet with great communication skills and willingness to learn. 4 day work week with appointments typically scheduled 9 to 5, although may be earlier during breeding season. On call every other weekend while learning, then goes to every 3rd weekend. Will be learning general equine practice: vaccinations, dentistry, podiatry, emergencies, breeding, lameness, etc..
