Lexington Equine Medical Group
Equine Ambulatory Internship 2020-2021
Lexington Equine Medical Group is an established practice that seeks to fill an opening for an intern veterinarian in Lexington, Kentucky. Lexington Equine is currently a seven, full time veterinarian practice with a large, busy and diverse clientele. Each current senior veterinarian has provided services to this area for well over a decade and has served to successfully mentor many interns and veterinarians. We provide equine specific veterinary services to the Central Kentucky area. The practice is equipped with full digital radiography and ultrasound capabilities along with the other necessary diagnostic and treatment modalities required to be successful in practice.
Our ambulatory caseload is predominately associated with all aspects of the Thoroughbred Industry and is supplemented with many other disciplines and breeds. The practice also takes care of polo strings, eventing barns, gaited horse clients and pleasure horses.
Lexington Equine has a strong team approach to practice. We all work together to provide the highest quality care to our patients and clients. We offer a competitive pay and benefits package. We seek a candidate with good interpersonal skills, a license to practice in Kentucky and ability/desire to expand professional knowledge and skills.
Journal club rounds will be held weekly from August to December. The applicant must have the ability to obtain a veterinary and DEA license in Kentucky and have a valid drivers license. The applicant must be able to provide their own vehicle and will be compensated for mileage at the government rate. Independent call duty is the desired expectation after a few months of mentored practice.
Benefits include health insurance, option for group vision/dental, group disability insurance, group term life insurance, paid professional memberships, professional liability insurance, cell phone, local CE opportunities, and a logo allotment.
Lexington is in the heart of horse country with many natural, equestrian and cultural wonders and venues. We have all made it our home and look forward to sharing it with the right candidate.
