Job Type: Part-time, Non-exempt or Full-time, Exempt; commensurate with professional experience and interest in organization’s plans for growth and expansion
We are seeking a shelter veterinarian to join our mission-driven clinic team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in the medical care of dogs and cats and will also have proficiency in the care of wildlife and non-dog/cat pet species. Candidates who lack experience with non-dog/cat species but who are interested in pursuing these competencies are also encouraged to apply. Typical duties, daily and weekly schedule are determined by current organizational and business needs, urgent medical cases, and veterinarian experience. This role supports our Director of Veterinary Medicine in a collaborative environment providing high quality healthcare to our companion animals and exceptional service to our clients.
Anderson Animal Shelter is a progressive, limited admission humane society with an annual intake of approximately 4,000 companion animals with a live release rate of 95%. In addition, we provide care for over 3,000 injured and orphaned wild animals annually through our wildlife center. Over the course of the next 5 years, we plan to expand the number of species in care to include pet birds (primarily parrots), horses, and other hooved animals commonly kept as pets and small mammals such as rabbits, ferrets, hamsters, gerbils, etc. We are a fast-paced organization dedicated to the animals in our care and the people we impact. We emphasize the importance of a flexible work-life balance for our staff and volunteers and we work hard to create a positive and fun work environment.
All volunteers and staff of Anderson Animal Shelter must understand and accept that, even though all reasonable accommodations are made to support the physical and emotional health of our shelter animals, there are situations in which animals must be euthanized.
