SEEKING EQUINE VETERINARIAN ASSOCIATE: Our practice is growing quickly and we feel there is an opportunity for more growth. We are willing to hire someone for few months before asking for a contracted position; this way we can get to know each other better and see if we are a good fit. Our goal is to have a veterinarian who would work 4-5 days a week and alternate call with the other two Doctors. Huck Equine is a successful, family-owned practice established in 1973 and located in Southeast Missouri, halfway between St. Louis and Memphis. Currently the clinic operates with two veterinarians as the founding partner seeks retirement. We are a progressive equine practice dealing with Quarter Horses, Tennessee Walking Horses, Belgians, Haflingers, Percherons, Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds, Donkeys, Mules, and the occasional exotics like camels and zebras. Our clients participate in barrel racing, rodeo, trail riding, cutting, hunter jumper and showing. The practice is partially ambulatory, with primarily haul-in referrals from Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas. We provide top-notch primary health care, while also focusing on ophthalmology, lameness, dentistry, breeding, acupuncture and chiropractic. We have the tools necessary to perform quality progressive medicine, including digital radiography, ultrasound, respiratory, gastroscopy, IRAP, PRP, in-house blood work and power dental equipment. We are also equipped with a 20-stall hospital, air conditioned/heated exam and surgery room and an additional barn for lameness, chiropractic, acupuncture and breeding including a indoor round pen to accommodate all of our patient’s needs. Our staff is a loyal group of equine savvy individuals capable of assisting in any situation. We laugh a lot, socialize together and take care of each other. Applicant must be a horseman, with a good sense of humor and a strong work ethic. He/she must be willing to learn new things, communicate with clients and staff, share emergency and after-hours duties and go the extra mile when needed. Salary is based on production, with base pay commensurate with experience. There is ample opportunity for advancement and for buy-in. Health insurance and liability insurance are included, as well as payment for CE and dues to AAEP, AVMA, MVMA. Cape Girardeau County is a sportsman’s paradise with deer and turkey hunting, fishing and all manner of outdoor sports. It is a horse-friendly place with rodeos, barrel races, horse shows and trail riding. Close enough for day rides, the Shawnee National Forest has hundreds of miles of the best trail riding in the nation. The local schools consistently rank with the best in Missouri. Located directly on the Mississippi River, Cape Girardeau is a vibrant college town with a thriving historic down town, and home to two first-rate hospitals and an excellent medical community. St. Louis is two hours away, with Cardinal baseball, Blues hockey, the Muny Opera, Arch and Fox Theater. Memphis is two hours south and boasts Grizzlies basketball, Graceland, blues music and a variety of museums. Cape County gives its residents whatever they want, a quiet, country life, an active social scene, or something in between.
