Currently seeking a motivated, recent graduate veterinarian to fill an internship position with an option of 6 to 18 months. This person will be a team player who is eager to continue to learn and apply their knowledge clinically. Our practice is located in the heart of Wellington, FL. The practice is mainly ambulatory with the main focus in sports medicine and surgery, however, preventative medicine is also part of our caseload. Our staff includes two veterinarians, one of which is a board certified surgeon and two full time technicians. Our practice is equipped with two state of the art digital radiography machines, digital ultrasound, video endoscopy and shockwave therapy. The large caseload of lameness and advanced diagnostics will create a great oppuortunity for an intern develop their skills and be introduced to some of the finest horses in the region.
The intern will have guidance and support always available but as experience and confidence is built will be able to see cases on their own.
Duties include assisting the senior veterinarians on during exams, obtaining radiographs for purchase exams and for diagnostic purposes, doing diagnostic blocks and joint treatments, processing PRP and ACS, fecal examinations and lab work, administering medications and pulling blood, administering shockwave therapy treatments, restocking the truck and keeping it clean and medicating in house patients. The first 6 months the intern will assist after hour emergencies with guidance from the senior veterinarian. After 6 months or sooner if both parties agree they will take emergencies on their own, but will always have the necessary guidance at any time day or night. Our schedule for a normal work week is Monday- Friday with a lighter work load on the weekends.
