One year internship at 4 doctor, 1 intern referral practice, from June 1 2020-June 15, 2021.
Our goal is to provide the experience and knowledge necessary for a new graduate to excel as an equine veterinarian. This is accomplished through mentoring and providing ample opportunities to become confident and proficient in the skills and communication abilities needed for success.
Early in the internship, the intern will be called to assist the primary clinician on call with emergencies. When the intern exhibits proficiency to the intern supervisor, they will be placed into on-call rotations and share emergency duty with an associate as backup. The intern will also be assisting with or performing anesthesia during after-hours emergency surgeries.
The intern will be responsible for Saturday pm and Sunday am/pm hospital treatments when on call, and Sunday am treatments when not on call. Additionally, intensive care cases may require the intern to help with treatments/observation when not scheduled on call.
The intern will be assigned to weekly blocks with individual clinicians to take advantage of our doctors’ strengths and special interests.
