The New Jersey Equine Clinic's Internship program is designed to help prepare graduate veterinarians for specialty residency training programs and /or careers in general equine practice. The internship provides one-on-one mentoring to assist interns in enhancing their clinical assessments, honing their technical and surgical skills, and gaining confidence interacting with clients and patients.
Interns are responsible for daily patient care and assessments in the hospital, and work with the supervision of senior staff veterinarians in the diagnosis and treatment of horses admitted to the clinic or seen as outpatients. Interns obtain hands on experience performing general anesthesia of surgical patients, lameness examinations including diagnostic anesthesia and diagnostic imaging, as well as hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Interns will also rotate through an ambulatory equine practice to assist with general practice farm calls.
Applicants must be graduates of an accredited veterinary school. Application materials include a curriculum vitae, a letter of intent, and three letters of reference.
