Scott Equine Services is a two doctor equine ambulatory practice serving the Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade counties of South Florida. We pride ourselves on providing progressive concierge level care to a busy sport horse practice. Sports Medicine is the primary focus at Scott Equine, although we also provide primary care, dental, and chiropractic services.
We are seeking a part-time veterinary technician with excellent client and horse handling skills. The technician will be working closely with their veterinarian providing in depth lameness exams which often include on-site digital radiography, ultrasound, and intra-articular therapies. The technician will also become familiar with PRP and Stem Cell technologies, Shockwave Therapy, Endoscopy (upper airway and gastroscopic), and in-house laboratory services. Technician responsibilities also include stocking and organizing veterinary trucks, driving veterinary trucks, collecting and preparing outside laboratory samples, scheduling, and equipment maintenance.
A bachelor’s or associates degree in Animal Sciences, Biology or a related field of study is preferred. Experience in the equine and/or veterinary industry is favored, but not a requirement. A current driver's license is required. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of professionalism, a strong desire and ability to learn, solid oral communication skills and a high level of maturity and discretion.
Entry level applicants are welcome and advancement with increased compensation is possible as skills are developed. Our pay scale begins at $17 per hour up to $25 per hour depending on education and experience. Workdays begin at 8am in our Fort Lauderdale office. Workdays are 8-10 hours in the summer months and 10-12 hours in the fall, winter, and spring months. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday hours are available now. The ideal candidate would be available for full workdays 1-3 days per week. Days off are flexible in this part-time position. Additional optional hours are often available during weekends.
