We're seeking a equine/large animal veterinarian to join our busy practice. Our large animal work is primarily ambulatory and covers most of southern NJ and parts of eastern PA. We also have a equine/large animal farm facility for haul-in appointments and hospitalization of non-critical cases. This position would serve primarily equine patients but also include backyard livestock such as small ruminants, camelids, pet pigs, and a small number of bovine speies. We do very little production work; most cases are backyard livestock/pets. While candidates must have strong equine skills this position is not equine-exclusive. Applicants must be either comfortable working with other large animal species or be willing to learn and regularly see/treat them.
The practice is a 5 doctor mixed animal practice seeing approximately 60% small animal and 40% large animal cases. One doctor sees only large animal cases, two doctors are mixed, and two doctors are small animal exclusive. We also have a consulting board-certified ophthalmologist for equine/large animal cases and consulting small animal surgeon for small animal orthopedic cases. Our main office is located in Mount Holly, NJ (between Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore with about a 45 minute commute to either one). We have a equine/large animal farm facility located just up the road in Eastampton, NJ. A new small animal hospital is slated to open in Tuckerton, NJ late this fall. We pride ourselves on practicing up-to-date, compassionate veterinary medicine. The practice is well-equipped with three ambulatory units, in-house laboratory, wireless digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, in-house pharmacy, and much more.
Candidates must have experience working as a equine/large animal veterinarian. Competence with independently performing wellness exams, equine dentistry, lameness diagnostics and treatment, and equine emergencies is essential. Candidates with experience with other large animal species as well are preferred. Highly qualified, confident internship-trained doctors will be considered but this is not a position for the average new graduate. After-hours on-call responsibilities are required and will be shared with other associates in the practice.
Must have or obtain NJ and PA veterinary licenses, USDA accreditation in NJ and PA, and a valid drivers license.
