We are a well-established, privately owned equine hospital. We are located in beautiful rural horse country but are less than 80 miles from exciting midtown Manhattan. We are seeking a motivated applicant, with excellent customer service mentality and good communication skills. We seek an individual with a forward-thinking and positive attitude that can function well as a part of our close-knit team. Our facility offers complete support staff, surgical suite, 13-stall barn with climate-controlled evaluation areas and state of the art equipment including multiple digital radiography units, dynamic endoscopy, ultrasonography, video endoscopy, laser therapy, in house laboratory equipment and up-to-date sports medicine and regenerative therapies. We are a progressive practice with opportunities for future growth for the right candidate. Staff includes two board certified equine surgeons and 4 other experienced ambulatory veterinarians. We have an established internship program with two interns.
Although there is a complete, well -appointed and staffed hospital, the practice is primarily an ambulatory practice. Surgeries are almost all elective. Reproductive work is a prominent part of the practice as we are the veterinarians for several large breeding farms in the area. We currently perform semen freezing, embryo transfer flushes, hysteroscopy, oviductal hydrotubation, oocyte aspiration, as well as more routine work with stallion collection, artificial insemination and mare and stallion reproductive examinations. We are looking for someone to take over this case load and hopefully continue to expand our reproductive services. We would like a candidate interested in growing this aspect of the practice. We are seeking a candidate that would be willing to do non-theriogenology work when the breeding season is slow but would consider a candidate for the position who only performs reproductive work.
Forty percent of our caseload is Standardbreds, both racehorses in training and breeding stock. Additionally, we see a wide variety of sport horses including hunter/jumper, dressage, and Western performance horses. Cases regularly involve all age groups, from foals to geriatrics. Clients are varied and include pet horse farms as well as large show horse barns, western performance barns, commercial breeding farms, local resorts and racetrack work. Pine Bush Equine Services serves as the primary veterinarians for the USDA New York Animal Import Center (one of only three import centers in the United States).
Pine Bush Equine Services schedules appointments Monday-Friday. We provide 24-hour emergency coverage for our clients however all night-time emergency surgery is referred to a local surgical center. On call duty for our full-time practitioners is generally limited to 5 days a month. This may increase slightly in July and August when the interns are new to the practice.
We offer a starting salary commensurate with experience with incentives based on production. Benefit packages include, medical, vision and dental, paid vacation, continuing education expenses, retirement benefits through an IRA with a contribution matching program, payment of dues for membership in the AVMA and AAEP, Professional Liability Insurance through the AVMA, licensing fees, and a pet care discount.
New York and New Jersey Veterinary Licenses are required. You may visit our website for more information at pinebushequine.com. Please send CV or resume to email@example.com
