It is designed to prepare the individual for advanced equine practice or used as a stepping stone towards a residency program elsewhere. The first six months is predominantly hospital based and includes primary responsibility for all routine anesthesia and care of in patients with the nursing staff. Thereafter the intern will be expected to undertake an increasing amount of routine ambulatory work under the guidance of more senior veterinarians within the practice.
